Two Brothers. One Goal

Deep Blue Straws was founded by Jonny and Tom Warner in 2018; a vision from two brothers who wanted to make a difference to our world's oceans

We grew up together on a small farm outside of Bath in the southwest of the UK which is where our passion for the environment came from and although we now live on opposite sides of the world we are still very close and setting up Deep Blue Straws together was the obvious choice. We offer Paper, Metal and Bamboo straws to both customers and businesses, so whatever you require we are confident we can help you on your journey as we fight to protect the world's oceans.

Tom: The idea for Deep Blue Straws came to me whilst out drinking in one of my favourite bars in London. I'd ordered the third round of drinks for a group of friends and as I looked round the table I counted 18 plastic straws. I rang Jonny the next day and together we formed the ideas behind Deep Blue Straws, what we wanted to achieve and how we were going to achieve it.

Jonny:  I moved to Hong Kong in 2017 and am so happy to call this eclectic and frankly exhausting place home! Unfortunately, I have seen first hand the shocking levels of plastic pollution that occur throughout Asia which has only made me more determined to do everything I can to help and I am excited about this journey.

Our Mission

‘At Deep Blue Straws our mission is simple; to turn the tide on plastic pollution currently decimating the world's oceans. For us, this starts at home, at the pub, in restaurants, and anywhere plastic straws can be replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives.’

The Problem

Plastic might be convenient but if not recycled or  if improperly disposed of, plastic can last several lifetimes! Normal plastic waste can take up to 1000 years to decompose meaning it’s going to be around long after we are.

All this plastic must go somewhere once we throw it away and too often, whether someone means to litter or not, the rubbish we throw away ends up in the places we don’t want it to, including the oceans.

It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans.

The problem is on a global scale and every one of us has a part to play in decreasing our personal plastic consumption and subsequent impact on the environment.

Our Solution

We created Deep Blue Straws to help work with both individuals and businesses, from small to large, providing them with simple change solutions; moving them away from plastic straws and onto paper, bamboo and stainless-steel alternatives.

We are creating a brand that people can feel a part of, a brand that when they see it they immediately know organisations are supportive of our cause.

For the consumer, they can use Deep Blue Straws products at home and in partner venues, knowing that by doing so they are helping to reduce their own plastic footprint on our oceans.

For businesses, we are launching a highly recognizable and inclusive brand of plastic free products for their customers. Our products show that they, as a company support the necessary changes needed to reduce plastic pollution.

We really hope you will join us on our mission to help eliminate plastic pollution in our oceans. Please don't hesitate to reach out to either of us if you have any questions.
